Connecticut College 8, Springfield College 6 Camels Erase 6-1 Deficit

Springfield, Mass. - April 16, 2013 - (Springfield Athletic Communications) The Springfield College women's lacrosse team let a 6-1 first-half lead slip away as it was defeated by Connecticut College, 8-6, in non-conference play Tuesday night on Stagg Field.

The win boosts Connecticut College's record to 5-8, while Springfield fell to 8-7.

Michelle Dorsey paced the Pride with a hat trick, and Meghan Flanagan added two goals in her final home game. Kelly Gallo scored the Pride's other strike, and Kerstin Lindrooth grabbed three draw controls. In net, Anne Versprille posted nine stops.

Taylor Thomas led all players with five points on three goals and two helpers, and Lowell Abbott chipped in three goals as well. Caitlin Cataldo needed to make just three saves to earn the win in goal. For the game, the Camels held a 19-13 edge in shots, including an 11-3 edge in the second-half.

Springfield could not have asked for a better start, racing out to a 4-0 lead in the opening 5:36. Dorsey keyed the burst with two unassisted goals, including one just 52 seconds into the game.

Thomas struck at the 16 minute mark of the first half, only to have Dorsey and Flanagan each find the back of the cage to give the hosts a 6-1 cushion with 7:48 to play. However, that would be the last time that Springfield would convert on the offensive end for the evening.

A goal from Thomas with 2:42 left in the half made it a 6-2 game at the half. Abbott then took over the game in the second half, scoring three-straight times in the first 17:04 before Thomas evened the game with 9:07 remaining after finding the top shelf on a free-position attempt.

Bri Miller put Connecticut College up for good with the game's final two goals, striking at 8:25 and 4:27 to complete the rally.

Springfield will conclude the regular season on Saturday afternoon when it plays at MIT 1:00 pm.
