NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College field hockey team dropped its final home match of the season to No. 3 Tufts by a 2-0 score on Saturday afternoon at Silfen Field.

Tufts (9-1, NESCAC 6-1) attempted 13 shots and 10 penalty corners in the first half, but the Camel defense was able to keep the Jumbos off the scoreboard for the first 35 minutes of action.

The Jumbos continued to pummel Camel freshman netminder Jackie Mountford (Sherborn, Mass.) with shots in the second half and finally got one through in the 41st minute. Gigi Tutoni redirected a ball which came off the stick of Rachel Hamilton by batting it down and finding the back of the cage. Claire Foley then doubled the lead and put the game out of reach when she dribbled the ball through the top of the circle and rocketed a shot to the right post.

Andie Stallman picked up the shutout win for Tufts without facing a shot, while Mountford made 10 saves for the Camels in the losing effort.

Connecticut College (3-10, NESCAC 0-8) hits the road to face nationally-ranked Bowdoin next Saturday at 11 a.m.
