PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Connecticut College men's water polo team dropped both of its matches at the Bruno Classic Tournament, which is being hosted by Brown University over the weekend. The Camels first fell to Cal Lutheran, 16-6, before coming up short in a 10-5 decision against the host Bears.
California Lutheran 16, Connecticut College 6
California Lutheran burst out to an 8-1 lead and never looked back against the Camels. The margin extended to twin figures at 12-2 early in the third, and some late scoring by Arturo Freitas (Weston, Fla.) would prove to not be enough to overcome the large and early hole.
Brown 10, Connecticut College 5
Like Cal Lutheran, Brown embarked on an early run and found itGillself ahead by a 10-2 score in the latter stages of the third by rattling off seven unanswered. But even though the Camels fought back to tally the last three goals, it would prove to be too little and too late to overcome.
Gill scored twice to pace the team's offense in the losing effort.
Connecticut College (0-2) has the next two weeks off and will be back in action to host a home tournament over the weekend of Sept. 21 and Sept. 22. The team will first face Penn State Behrend at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.
