No. 24 Men’s Cross Country Posts Runner-Up Finish at Maine State Invitational

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The nationally-ranked Connecticut College men's cross country team posted a runner-up finish among 19 competing schools at the Maine State Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Bowdoin.

For the second consecutive weekend, junior Danny Aschale (Cambridge, Mass.) paced the Camels by covering the 8,000-meter circuit in 25:26.1 and placing second in a field of 223 competitors. Senior Scott Mason (Chestnut Hill, Pa.) finished fourth in 25:30.2, while classmate Price Day (Harvard, Mass.) navigated the circuit in 26:21.8 and was the 12th harrier to hit the tape. Russell Adam (Cheshire, Conn.), another senior, and junior Josh Simensky (Falmouth, Maine) completed the team's top five by finishing 21st and 29th with marks of 26:39.7 and 26:50.9, respectively.

Led by individual winner Sean MacDonald, host Bowdoin captured the team crown by recording 38 points. Connecticut College earned its runner-up finish with 68 points, and No. 35 Bates (72), Colby (93), and Southern Maine (124) completed the team's top five.

Connecticut College, which has been ranked 24th in the country for the past two weeks, will return to action when it hosts an invitational on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Harkness Park in Waterford.
