Men’s Cross Country Finishes Eighth and Produces Three All-Region Winners at New England Regional Championships

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Senior Scott Mason (Chestnut Hill, Pa.) hit the tape eighth overall to help propel the Connecticut College men's cross country team to an eighth-place finish at the New England Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon at Bowdoin.

Mason, junior Danny Aschale (Cambridge, Mass.) and senior Price Day (Harvard, Mass.) all garnered All-New England Region recognition by placing among the top-35 overall as individuals. Mason covered the 8,000-meter course in 25:13.5, while Aschale was 11th in 25:20.4 and Day hit the tape 17th with a time of 25:38.8. Senior Russell Adam (Cheshire, Conn.) and junior Jacob Brill-Weil (Cambridge, Mass.) were 74th and 126th in 26:37.5 and 27:22.7, respectively to complete the team's top five.

Amherst won the team crown with 65 points, and Plymouth State's Sam Brunnette edged out Bates' James Jones for the individual title. Williams, Middlebury, MIT and Tufts rounded out the top five programs in the overall standings.

Mason, Aschale and Day will now wait to hear if they will be selected to compete as individuals at the upcoming NCAA Championships. The qualifiers will be announced tomorrow at 1 p.m.
