BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Connecticut College coed sailing team qualified for the ICSA National Championships by registering a ninth-place finish at the New England Dinghy Championships over the weekend.
The Camels clinched the final spot available to represent the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) by finishing with 236 points. Freshman Tommy Whittemore (West Hartford, Conn.) and junior Paige Dunlevy (San Francisco, Calif.) most notably finished fifth in the B Division with 107 to lead the way for the program.
In addition, the team sent student-athletes to compete at the Southern Series 7 and finished fifth among nine schools. Freshman Harris Padegs (Buffalo, N.Y.) and sophomore Charlotte Williams (Cambridge, Mass.) finished fourth among 18 groups with 46 points.
The Connecticut College coed sailing program will compete in the national semifinals at Newport, Rhode Island on May 28 and May 29. If successful, the Camels will advance to the championship round on May 30 and May 31.
