CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Connecticut College senior Olivia Haskell (Norwalk, Conn.) has been named to the Google Cloud District II Academic All-America All-America Women's At-Large Team, as announced on Thursday afternoon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The co-captain of the women's swimming program was chosen to the all-district first team and is now eligible for Academic All-America laurels.
Haskell, an economics major with minors in psychology and sociology, has been a key member and central figure for the women's swimming team who has helped the program continue its tradition of excellence on the national scene over the past four seasons. Specializing in the freestyle, she has played a pivotal role in leading the Camels to a top-16 team finish at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships every year since her arrival on campus.
The senior ended her career as a six-time NCAA All-American and a nine-time NCAA All-America Honorable Mention selection in two individual and all five relay events. This past winter, she was most notably the NESCAC champion in the 100-yard freestyle and earned NCAA All-America laurels three times, finishing eighth in the 50 free and anchoring the 800 and 400 relay squads which placed fifth and seventh, respectively. Furthermore, she garnered honorable mention status by touching the wall 10th in the 100 free and anchoring the 13th-place 200 medley relay in her final year of competing at the annual championship meet.
Outside of the pool, Haskell has been heavily involved with campus life as a member of the Student Activities Council (SAC), SafetyNet, Psi Chi Honor Society for psychology, and the Womxn's Empowerment Initiative (WEI). In addition, she has been an intern with the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention and Advocacy (OSVPA) at Connecticut College this past year.
Following today's announcement, Connecticut College has three student-athletes who have made the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in their respective sport during the 2018-19 academic year. Junior Sara Kogelmann (Guilderland, N.Y.) of the women's soccer team and sophomore AJ Marcucci (West Chester, Pa.) of the men's soccer program have also received the honor.
