WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore Skylar Morgan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and freshman Brooke Scully (Winchester, Mass.) each won their singles and doubles matches to propel the Connecticut College women's tennis team to a 5-2 victory over New Haven on Saturday afternoon.
Playing under Division II rules, the Camels earned the first point by sweeping doubles action. Senior Mariah Warren (McLeansville, Va.) and Scully took No. 1 doubles by an 8-5 score, and sophomores Meredith Kenny (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Morgan won the No. 2 match by an 8-4 decision. Junior Stephanie Simon (Wellesley, Mass.) and Allison Falvey (Wakefield, Mass.) cruised to an 8-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles to help give the Camels momentum through doubles action.
In singles play, Scully most notably rallied to win in three sets at the No. 4 position by scores of 4-6, 6-2, and 7-5. Senior Emily Migliorini (North Haven, Conn.), junior Rachel Weiss (Great Neck, N.Y.), and Morgan captured victories to clinch the overall win by defeating their opponents in straight sets.
Connecticut College (7-4) will face its second straight NCAA Division II opponent when it hosts Merrimack on Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
