NEWPORT, R.I. – The Connecticut College volleyball team dropped a non-conference matchup to Salve Regina at the Rodgers Recreation Center on Tuesday evening. Set scores were 25-17, 25-20 and 25-19.

The first set was tight and tied at 9-all when senior Maddie Rust (Austin, Texas) finished a pass from junior Grace McGee (Portland, Maine), but the Seahawks responded with five unanswered to take control. The margin extended to seven on three occasions before a Camel attacking error ended the set in favor of the hosts.

After Salve Regina took the second set by leading from wire-to-wire, the Camels were able to take a 4-2 lead in the third frame. However, the hosts went on another 5-0 run by landing a pair of aces and forcing two Camel errors. The visitors came within a single point at 16-15 to force a timeout, but the Seahawks ended the match on a 9-4 run and most notably got three kills from Annie Donahue to seal the win.

Salve Regina (7-2) got a match-high 11 kills along with a .471 hitting percentage from Donahue. Erin Proctor led all players with 27 assists, while Nicole Karabaich finished with nine kills, seven digs, a solo block, and an assisted block.

Sophomore Emma Hewlin (Los Gatos, Calif.) led the Camels with eight kills. McGee handed out 16 assists, and junior Dayna McCue (Franklin, Mass.) also reached twin figures with 11 digs.
