Connecticut College to Host CWPA Division III Women’s Water Polo Championships This Weekend

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Connecticut College will play host to the 2019 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Women's Water Polo Championships this weekend.

The three-day event will take place beginning on Friday, April 12 and concluding on Sunday, April 14 at the Lott Natatorium. Featuring Austin College, Carthage College, Grove City College, Macalester College, Monmouth College, Penn State Behrend, Utica College, Washington & Jefferson College, Wittenberg University and the host Camels, the 17-game championship will determine the CWPA Division III Champion in the final year prior to the creation of the United States Water Polo Division III Championship with the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) during the 2019-2020 academic year.

Fans attending the CWPA Division III Championship can pay for either a three-day tournament pass ($25) or a one-day pass ($10). Connecticut College students, faculty and staff with a valid college ID, and senior citizens 65 and older, will be admitted at discounted prices of $10 (tournament pass) and $5 (one-day pass). All children 12 and under are free of charge. All tickets are exclusively available at the door as there will be no presale in advance of the championship.

The CWPA will broadcast the entire tournament online and be offering live-streaming of the weekend on a pay-per-view basis through Stretch Internet. The cost of viewership is $10 per game, or $25 for the weekend tournament package that includes all the contested games.

In addition to championship coverage via the Internet, the CWPA will offer DVD copies of every game at the championship on site for fan purchase. Fans attending the championship can find out more information about the DVD packages offered by the league at the concessions table during the tournament.

Friday's action will feature six games beginning with a 1 p.m. matinee between eighth-seeded Washington & Jefferson and ninth-seeded Wittenberg. Connecticut College, which is seeded fourth, will play its first game at 4:45 p.m. against Monmouth.
